Special session prompts cancellation of Rivers-Pike town hall meeting in Camas; lawmakers plan to reschedule

Due to the Legislature going into a special session Thursday (tomorrow), Sen. Ann Rivers and Rep. Liz Pike are cancelling a town hall meeting, which was scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Camas Public Library.

Gov. Jay Inslee announced Tuesday he is calling lawmakers back to Olympia to pass legislation that would benefit the state’s aerospace industry. Lawmakers were unaware of the governor’s plans until he made the announcement.

“We always look forward to our town halls and cancelling is a disappointment. It’s important to reschedule so we can hear from the folks we serve,” said Rivers, R-La Center.

“We regret that we will be unable to hold our town hall meeting this weekend. However, it is still very important that we hear from our local citizens. We’re looking at rescheduling this meeting to another date prior to the 2014 session, which begins in January,” said Pike, R-Camas. “In the meantime, I encourage citizens who have questions, comments and suggestions about state government to contact our offices.”

Sen. Rivers may be contacted at her office in Olympia at (360) 786-7634. Rep. Pike’s district office phone number in Camas is (360) 210-4117.
