Sen. Ann Rivers received the “President’s Award” from the Building Industry Association of Clark County at a ceremony yesterday. The group cited Rivers’ support of the home construction industry and work to encourage job creation as key factors in the decision to recognize her.
“Senator Rivers is a tireless advocate for home building issues in Olympia,” said Jack Harroun, 2015 BIA president. “Her recent leadership in helping get the critical projects to Clark County placed into the transportation package will help in opening up several thousand acres of land currently stuck in urban holding.”
The BIA of Clark County has approximately 600 member businesses representing nearly 12,000 employees.
“My father was a contractor, so I know hard they work. The past seven years have been devastating for home builders, particularly in southwest Washington. Anything I can do to help the folks who are building Clark County and bringing affordable housing to our community is at the top of my list of priorities,” said Rivers.
